“Conventillos” is an research project that investigates the places of the old and new immigrants in the city of Buenos Aires, documenting the current status, social and structural, of conventillos, shared the historic homes of the immigrants of 800. Today, some of these places have become shopping malls, restaurants or private homes, while others still retain the function of houses occupied by new immigrants, mostly in South America. The evolution of the spaces, as well as a reaffirmation of the residential function of the same, on the margins of social life, is told by those who live today conventillos preserving, in some cases, historical memory, in other “drama” of immigration.
